NEO-PRISM-C

“Neurodevelopmental Optimal-predictors, Risk Factors and Intervention: From A Systems Approach to Manaldjustment in Children”, (Neo-PRISM-C), is a four-year project funded by the European Union Horizon 2020 Program (H2020-MSCA-ITN-2018) under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (Grant Agreement No. 813546) (2019-2023; Total budget €4 million). Neo-PRISM-C aims to study neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs), which emerge early in development and result in long-term disability, compromising the quality of life of millions of Europeans. The purpose of the Neo-PRISM-C ETN is to train Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) from multiple disciplines (psychology, neuroscience, data science) in applying the Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) approach, a novel framework for understanding psychopathology, to the study of the mechanisms of NDDs, in order to inform and begin to test appropriate treatments. Neo-PRISM-C is expected to further understanding of NDDs in pediatric populations and improve the competitiveness of EU health professionals and scholars, providing the market with highly-skilled researchers and clinicians.
Georgia Soursou is the Fellow ESR-6 of the Neo-PRISM-C project and is hosted by the Developmental Psychopathology Lab of the University of Cyprus supervised by Dr. Kostas A. Fanti. Her project is entitled “Psychoneurometric operationalization of externalizing and internalizing psychopathology: Taking genetic and environmental influences into account.” It is under the Working Package number two (Neurobiological Systems) of the Neo-PRISM-C consortium. She will apply a psychoneurometric approach to explain the manifestation of externalizing and internalizing psychopathology based on composite bio-behavioral constructs informed from multi-systemic behavioral (clinical and personality assessments), cognitive (attention allocation to empathy and threat), physiological (skin conductance, heart rate, electromyography), and brain (dorsolateral and medial prefrontal cortex) indicators. Additionally, she will investigate how gene by environment interactions modulate susceptibility to the identified bio-behavioral constructs.
